Helmets are no longer required for motorcycle drivers in Florida and unfortunately, this contributes to the severity of injuries sustained in an accident. An injured motorcycle driver may face a lifetime of medical care for injuries as a result of an accident. In Florida, PIP insurance coverage is not required to operate a motorcycle, so compensation from the automobile driver may be the only compensation available. As in all motor vehicle accidents, liability of the driver must be proven in order to collect damages. Sometimes the motorcycle driver is quickly transported to the hospital, or is unconscious and is unable to explain how the accident happened to the responding police officer. Witnesses to the accident become very important. We work hard and quickly to put the pieces together in an effort to recreate the accident and find out who is at fault and what the insurance coverage is.
If you drive a motorcycle, buy adequate insurance to cover any catastrophic occurrence, even if it is not required by law.
